What Would YongWoo Do?
The pavilion is inspired by endangered wildflowers living next to the urban stream adjacent to the site. A series of digital art inspired by 33 colors and patterns extracted from the wildflowers are arranged in a form of waves representing each flower's relationship to the water table which has been rising constantly due to global warming. The proposal records the current beautiful landscape around the urban stream as a way to bring energy to the plaza and also seeks to deliver a message about sea-level rise in a playful and straight-forward way.
‘꽃너울에 스며들다’는 인천시 검단지역의 도심 생태하천에서 마주하게 될 다양한 식물들과 기후변화의 이야기를 담은 체험형 조형물입니다. 지구온난화에 따른 해수면 상승 위기 속에서 움직일 수 없는 식물은 도망가지도 못하고 살 곳을 잃어버리게 됩니다. 지금처럼 전 세계적으로 지속가능한 지구를 만들기 위한 담화와 노력이 계속되지 못하면, 파도가 점점 밀려들어와 매천을 수놓던 아름다운 자연의 색깔들을 하나씩 잃어버릴지도 모릅니다. “꽃너울에 스며들다”는 매천의 아름다운 풍경에 대한 기록임과 동시에 멀리서 불어오는 거친 파도가 아닌 지속가능한 미래에서 불어오는 희망의 메시지, 꽃의 너울에 스며든 검단신도시의 미래 상징입니다.
